This month, Gov. Rosselló signed the Puerto Rico Energy Public Policy Act into law, committing the island to the goal of 100% renewable energy by 2050, with an “interim target of 40% renewable energy by 2024.” Under the new law, “all scales of renewable energy production, including home solar energy, will count” towards the set goal. Among other things, the law also bans coal plants in Puerto Rico as of 2028.
